We wanted to take motivation and inspiration a step further. Yes, we're all about being bold and adventurous, but, there's also the factor that we want our clients to empower future clients. Going forward, we would like to interview current clients so their answers may motivate someone else to complete a shoot with Socks and a Smile.
We're not only a photography company, we're a movement.
Let’s say your friends are interested in doing a shoot, but they’re nervous. What would you tell them?: Beauty is subjective to the viewer. Never be afraid to let your freak flag fly! You are you and that's beauty in itself - why not celebrate it?!
Music gets us all energized, what song always pumps you up?!: Love on Top - Beyonce
What was your favourite part during the shoot?: I've never shot in my own home and I thought that was pretty awesome! The wardrobe choices were endless....!
You have one day, full of freedom. What do you do to pamper yourself?: Take my time getting ready (I work at a gym - hair and makeup never gets to happen these days), go get my nails done, brunch with friends and then an afternoon of adventure on Queen St!
How did you feel after your shoot?: Comfortable, sexy, empowered.
How do you deal with people who don't understand that boudoir photography is a beautiful thing?: This is an ongoing battle as I know many people are uncomfortable with some of the images I share. I try and remind myself that everyone has insecurities and our own insecurities can sometimes cloud the way we view other people. I understand that my body may not be beautiful to everyone or that not everyone wants to see it. That being said, it’s my body and my choice - just as much as it’s anyone else’s to choice to view it or not. I believe that beauty - whatever that means to each individual - should be celebrated. The way you choose to do so is entirely up to you.
How do you inspire women to celebrate their bodies?: By being real! In the viral world: I post photos of the totally unhealthy stuff I eat but then I post the photos of my bruised legs from my various workouts! No make-up pictures, silly faces - you name it! I’m not ashamed to be me. In the real world: I’m a personal trainer so you can imagine all the different body types I work with. My approach is to make my female clients strong, in every sense of the word. When they feel great mentally and psychically, there really is nothing sexier!
What about Socks and a Smile inspired you to shoot with us?: It’s cheeky and sexy. The women and inspirations Socks and a Smile posts are all beautifully diverse. No discrimination of size, shape or colour. I knew right away it was something I wanted to get on board with.
Thank you so much, we really try to post inspirational photos of all types of women.
